The government is going to start the work of garbage collection and its management in the next six months in 7,674 villages of 95 development blocks of the state, which are facing the problem of non-collection of garbage from homes and heaps of garbage around. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made this announcement while launching the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva-2024’ program on the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Chief Minister said that the government has started the work of waste management in 9,000 villages of the state and the government’s target is to start the work of garbage management in 100 percent villages of the state by March 2025. Let us tell you that there are a total of 16,674 villages in the state.
Till now the facility was not available in the village
It is going to be 24 years since Uttarakhand became a state, but the villagers are still deprived of the facility of garbage collection and management in the rural areas of the state. Although garbage collection and management work is going on in all 92 urban body areas of the state, but rural areas are still untouched by it. In such a situation, the villagers either throw the garbage of their houses outside on empty plots or on the roadside or are forced to burn the garbage. Due to this, there are heaps of garbage on the roadside in rural areas.
