Uttarakhand: Operation Prahar will be conducted against criminals in the state, Chief Minister Dhami is strict on law and order

Operation Prahar will be launched against criminals across Uttarakhand. Responsibilities of officials have been fixed. CM Dhami has ordered strict action.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed strong displeasure over the recent criminal incidents in the capital, Dehradun, and has taken a tough stance. At a high-level meeting on law and order at the police headquarters, he directed the launch of Operation Prahar against criminals across the state.

In the meeting, the Chief Minister assigned responsibility to senior officials and ordered strict action. Earlier, on his instructions, Kuthalgate outpost in-charge Ashok Kumar and Deputy Excise Inspector Soban Singh were immediately suspended in connection with the murder of a former brigadier in Dehradun yesterday.

The Chief Minister instructed Director General of Police (DGP) Deepam Seth to take the strictest possible action against individuals involved in criminal activities. He also directed strict enforcement against bars and pubs operating beyond permitted hours. He emphasized that law and order will not be compromised under any circumstances.

A statewide intensive checking campaign is to be launched with immediate effect, and strict action must be taken against all anti-social elements and troublemakers. Authorities have been asked to completely curb incidents such as road rage, firing, and illegal late-night activities. The DGP has instructed all police officers to ensure immediate and full compliance with these directions.

Negligence Will Not Be Tolerated

The Chief Minister directed the police administration to work with full strictness and alertness. He clearly stated that officers and personnel showing negligence in duty will not be spared under any circumstances. Referring to the suspension of officials following the death of a Brigadier due to a shooting incident in Dehradun, he said that such strict action will continue in the future.

He reiterated that the state government’s top priority is the safety of the common people and assured that every necessary step will be taken to ensure it.

Accountability of Senior Officers Fixed

  • IG Garhwal Rajiv Swaroop has been instructed to ensure daily monitoring of law and order in Dehradun.
  • SSP Dehradun Pramendra Dobal has been directed to assign clear responsibilities to subordinate officers and ensure accountability, along with maintaining effective policing in the area.
  • IG STF Nilesh Anand Bharne and SSP STF Ajay Singh have been instructed to launch a special अभियान (operation) against active criminal elements in Dehradun and take strict action.
