Uttarakhand: Hotels and restaurants closed during the off-season will see a significant relief as lower electricity bills are expected.
Hotels and restaurants that remain closed during the off-season have received significant relief. Lower electricity consumption will result in lower bills. For the first time, the regulatory commission has granted relief for low load factors during the off-season.
The Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission has provided significant relief to hotel and restaurant owners who remain closed during the off-season. Now, if they consume less electricity during the off-season, they will have to pay a lower bill. Commission Chairman ML Prasad stated that if a hotel or restaurant owner consumes up to 10 percent of their total load during the off-season, they will have to pay a fixed charge for the corresponding reduced load. This will reduce their electricity bill.
The Commission has considered the off-season period to be between November 1st and March 31st. During this period, if the load consumption exceeds 10 percent in any month, the bill will be based on the old connection, i.e. the entire connection. If the consumption falls below 10 percent in the next month, the bill will be reduced again. This will especially provide relief to hotel and restaurant owners in the hills, whose business is almost closed or minimal during the off-season. However, this exemption has been implemented simultaneously across the state.
