Congress demands resignation of DGP:
The Congress has targeted Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami over some recent developments in the state. State Congress President Karan Mahara said that the way Chief Minister Dhami is making statements, his decision-making ability is being doubted. Accusing the police of destroying evidence in the murder of a female employee of Vanantara Resort, he demanded the resignation of Director General of Police Ashok Kumar.
In a conversation with reporters at Rajiv Bhavan, the state Congress headquarters on Thursday, Karan Mahara alleged that Independent MLA Umesh Kumar was running the government. He said that the attitude of the government on the SLP filed in the Supreme Court in the case of former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat raises doubts.
In the matter of withdrawing the SLP, Chief Minister Dhami is accusing the officials of keeping them in the dark. In case of opposition, the decision to withdraw the SLP is set aside. Now, in this case, information has come to the fore about the compromise on behalf of the advocate of the party Umesh Kumar.
The Chief Minister should clarify the situation in this matter. Along with this, what action has been taken against the officials who kept them in the dark should also be told. He said that questions were raised on disposal of files in Chintan Shivir. The manner in which two former Chief Ministers raised questions on the functioning of the government has confirmed the point of red-tapism in the state.
Mahara said that along with the murder case of a female employee of Vanantara Resort, white collars have been mentioned in the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission’s recruitment scam. The government wants to save the white collars. Attempts to destroy evidence in the Vanantara Resort episode have come to the fore time and again. For this, resignation should be taken from the Director General of Police.
He said that in the case of irregularities in assembly recruitment, the Congress is demanding an inquiry into the recruitments that have taken place since the formation of the state. The culprits in this case are those leaders whose kin have been recruited. The party does not want half-hearted justice. He alleged that the son of an officer who was associated with the election has also been employed.
