On the occasion of Teacher’s Day, 19 teachers of Uttarakhand were honored with Shailesh Matiyani State Educational Awards for the year 2023. In the felicitation ceremony organized at the Raj Bhavan, Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd), Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat presented awards to the selected teachers. On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced to increase the amount received under the Shailesh Matiyani Award from ten thousand to 20 thousand rupees. Chief Guest Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd) congratulated and wished the teachers who received the award. The Governor said that the place of Guru is at the top. The excellent teachers selected for the State Educational Award are a source of inspiration for other teachers. Remembering his gurus, the Governor said that the knowledge given by the gurus still guides and inspires.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while wishing all the teachers on Teachers’ Day, said that this day is a day to show respect to the teachers. The teachers being honored today have worked to spread knowledge in the society and shape the lives of the students with their experience and guidance. Guru has the highest place in Indian culture. The teacher works to guide his student in every situation. It is the Guru who removes the ignorance of darkness with his light. Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat wished all the teachers present on Teachers’ Day. He said that due to the tireless efforts of all, the level of education in the state has improved. Secretary Sanskrit Education Deepak Kumar, Additional Secretary Education Ranjana Rajguru, other senior officials of the Education Department and the award winning teachers and their relatives were present in the program.
