Three lakh rupees demanded for gold, two lakh for silver and one lakh for bronze medal, Taekwondo DOC removed after investigation of fixing allegations

The Games Technical Conduct Committee (GTCC) of the 38th National Games has removed the Director of Competition (DOC) T Praveen Kumar nominated for the Taekwondo event of the National Games after investigation of fixing allegations. S Dinesh Kumar has been appointed as the new DOC in his place. GTCC has taken this decision after the recommendation of the three-member Prevention of Manipulation of Competition Committee. The committee made this recommendation after investigating the complaints in which it was said that some officials nominated by the Taekwondo Federation of India have already decided the results of the competition of 10 weight categories out of 16 weight categories. For this, three lakh rupees are being taken for the gold medal, two lakh for the silver medal and one lakh for the bronze medal. The matches are on these dates
The committee has also recommended to change 50 percent members of the technical committee nominated for the games. Under the 38th National Games being held in Uttarakhand, Taekwondo matches are to be played in Haldwani from 4 February, i.e. Tuesday to 8 February. Even before these matches, GTCC got it investigated after allegations were made on the committee conducting them.

These are the members of the investigation committee
The investigating committee included Uttarakhand’s Principal Secretary RK Sudhanshu, retired IPS BK Sinha and Jammu and Kashmir’s SSP Dushyant Sharma. Games Technical Conduct Committee Chairperson Sunaina Kumari said in a statement that this step has been taken on the recommendation of the committee to maintain the integrity of the National Games. She said that it is surprising to know that along with the officials of sports associations of some states, the vendors providing equipment were also included in the selection trials.

Recommendations on four points

50 percent of technical officials should be replaced with officials with experience at the national and international level.

The entire competition should be video recorded and kept safe.

GTTC should also be present at the venue to keep an eye on any irregularities during the competition.

PT Usha said…

IOA President PT Usha supported the GTCC decision and said that we are committed to fair games and to protect the players from those who tarnish the image of national games. It is sad and shocking that the medals of the National Games were decided outside the field even before the competition began.

National Games CEO Amit Sinha said that official information about this has not been received yet. The organizing committee is demanding strict action against such persons.
