Heavy rains are possible in the capital today, IMD has issued an orange alert

The monsoon rains will continue in the state. Heavy to very heavy rains are possible in Bageshwar on Friday, due to which an orange alert has been issued. Also, there is a possibility of heavy rains in Dehradun, Chamoli and Nainital districts.

A yellow alert has been issued for these three districts. According to the weather department forecast, the sky will generally remain cloudy in the mountainous regions. Light to moderate rains or thundershowers are possible at many places in Rudraprayag, Almora, Champawat and Tehri. On Thursday, intermittent heavy rains occurred between 2 and 4 pm in Raipur, Sahasradhara, Haridwar bypass, Jakhan, FRI areas of Doon. During this period, 40 mm of rain was recorded in Karanpur area and 38.3 mm in Jhajra. The weather also changed in other plain areas. Most of the places in the hilly areas received rainfall last night. The maximum and minimum temperatures of Doon were recorded at 32.4 and 26.2 degrees Celsius respectively. Heavy showers occurred in the afternoon in Mussoorie, Rishikesh, Haridwar and the surrounding plains and after some time the sun came out and the humidity increased.

Director of the Meteorological Center Bikram Singh said that there may be heavy to very heavy rainfall in Bageshwar on Friday. Rain is also expected in Dehradun, Chamoli and Nainital.
