Glaciers are also in danger due to fire in the forests of Uttarakhand – Yashpal Arya

Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya launched a scathing attack on the Dhami government regarding the increasing incidents of forest fire in the state. He said that glaciers are also in danger due to forest fires in the Himalayan region. It is extremely harmful from environmental point of view. The preparation of the Forest and Disaster Management Department is surprising. Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya was talking to journalists at his official residence on Friday. He said that for the last several years, forests have been burning continuously in summer and winter in the state. In the first week of April, the situation became so dire that hundreds of hectares of forest were burnt and thousands of hectares are in danger. This loss is a matter of concern. Wild animals, trees, vegetation, water sources along with invaluable forest resources are being badly affected by forest fire. Livestock are also in danger due to fire reaching rural settlements.
He alleged that the government is inactive in this matter. Concrete steps are not being taken to prevent forest fires. The government is just catering. There is no visible action plan before or after to deal with forest fire. As much as Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is paying attention to the election campaign, he is equally indifferent to the solution of this problem. Due to smog in the environment, the situation for asthma and respiratory patients is getting worse day by day. Elderly people as well as young people are victims of infection.

No recruitment of fire watchers
The Leader of Opposition said that the government had laid emphasis on recruitment of a large number of fire watchers a long time ago, but these recruitments are not visible. The preparation of the forest department and its fire department is zero this time. There are 67 percent forests in the state. They have an important role in tourism along with environmental protection. Due to this, local people are also getting employment. He said that it is unfortunate that the government lacks vision regarding this problem.

Congress workers worked hard in the elections
In response to a question, he said that Congress is considering its position strong in all the five Lok Sabha seats of the state. Congress workers worked diligently for the party candidates on all the seats. This created an environment in favor of the party and the candidates and also benefited in the elections.
