The valleys of Uttarakhand, full of natural beauty, are emerging as a big destination for film shooting. Uttarakhand Film Policy has been implemented to promote the shooting of films and serials in the state. Under this, grant arrangements have been made. The government has clarified that only those film producers and directors will get grants, who will file an affidavit within the stipulated time period that more than 75 percent of the film has been shot in the state itself. Director General of Information and Chief Executive Officer of Uttarakhand Film Development Council, Banshidhar Tiwari, has issued guidelines for taking decisions on grant proposals in this regard. It has been said in the guidelines that a decision will be taken on the proposal for film grant after the recommendation of the technical and finance committee. Meetings will be determined on the basis of proposals received by the council.
Generally, these meetings will be held in July and January every year. Proposals till March 31 will be considered in the July meeting and proposals till October 31 will be considered in the January meeting. The Chief Executive Officer can take a decision regarding calling a meeting in special circumstances. Not only this, the time limit has also been fixed for submitting proposals for film grants. The Council should receive proposals for grants within one year from the date of receipt of the censor certificate. It has been clarified that proposals received after this will not be considered. In case of participating in a film festival, the filmmaker will have to obtain permission in writing for deviation in the time limit. The Council has decided to give grants on films broadcast on notified OTT platforms. In this sequence, five OTT platforms have been notified.
