Gupta brothers did not get bail… Cross-examination of both sides lasted for an hour in the court… Judge said – ‘Will remain in jail for now’

The court has rejected the bail application of Ajay Kumar Gupta and Anil Gupta (Gupta brothers) in the case of suicide of Dehradun’s famous builder Satendra Singh Sahni alias Baba Sahni. The court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate III Sahista Bano, after hearing the arguments of the prosecution and defense, passed the order to cancel the bail application. The defense counsel cited that the Gupta brothers had not talked to the deceased Satendra Sahni for a long time, with which the court did not agree.

First bail application filed in court
In the case of suicide of builder Satendra Singh Sahni, Ajay Kumar Gupta and Anil Gupta were arrested by Rajpur police station on May 24 and sent to jail after presenting them before the court on May 25. Ajay and Anil Gupta had filed the first bail application in the court in the case. On which a hearing was held on Monday in the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate III Sahista Bano. Defense advocates Atul Singh Pundir, Abhimanshu Dhyani and SK Dhar presented the argument that this case has been registered with the sole purpose of extorting money in the suicide case of builder Satendra Singh Sahni. The deceased himself, in his alleged suicide note, has mentioned the fact that Sahni was not talking to the accused for a long time. In such a situation, the question of blackmail and incitement to suicide does not arise. On the other hand, appearing on behalf of the prosecution, Assistant Prosecution Officers Javed, Yogesh Sethi and Vivek Gupta presented the report received from Rajpur police station and said that the accused had instigated the deceased Satendra Singh Sahni to commit suicide.

An application for intimidation was also given to the police.
Before committing suicide, Sahni had also given an application to the police for intimidation against the accused on May 10, 2024. The prosecution also said that the accused had given a complaint letter against deceased Sahni to the Saharanpur police with the intention of harassing him. Due to which builder Satendra Singh Sahni committed suicide. Therefore the bail application deserves to be rejected.

After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the court said that the defense has based the suicide note on not talking to each other for a long time. The court is of the opinion that the case is under investigation, in which evidence is yet to be collected and in such a situation, the statements made by the accused will be considered after the evidence comes. Considering the facts and circumstances, there is no sufficient basis for granting bail to the accused at this stage.
