
The State Disaster Management Authority has sent a letter to all the District Magistrates asking them to remain alert in view of the bad weather. It is written in the letter that according to the Meteorological Department, on May 5, there may be lightning/heavy spells of rain with thunder, hailstorm and gusty winds (40-50 km/hr) in some places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Tehri, Dehradun, Pauri, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Almora, Champawat and Nainital. There is a possibility of lightning/hailstorm, gusty winds with thunder in some places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Dehradun, Nainital on May 6 and 7. In this situation, ensure precautions in your districts. All the officers nominated by the Disaster Management IRS system and the departmental nodal officers will remain on high alert. Precautions should be taken in schools for the safety of students. Tourists should not be allowed to travel in high Himalayan regions during abnormal weather or heavy rainfall warnings. Apart from this, proper arrangements of equipment should be made in advance on routes sensitive to landslides.
