Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that a water supply action plan should be made keeping in mind the 30-year requirement of the state. Separate concrete plans should be made for drinking water, water storage and water conservation. He directed to work to make the water of Ganga completely potable till the last end of the state. Chief Minister Dhami held a meeting with the drinking water and water resources departments at the secretariat on Thursday. He said that there should be no drinking water problem in summer. Regular water supply should be done from the connections installed in the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme. He gave instructions to revive old water sources and identify new water sources. He said that water storage tanks and drinking water tankers should be cleaned regularly. He said that the quality of drinking water in the state should be tested from time to time.
Complaints should be monitored at the departmental level
He said that if all the standards of quality are found to be correct, local residents will have to be made aware about the excessive use of water coming from natural water sources. He directed to set up a toll free number as well as a control room at the district level so that there is no problem of drinking water. Regular monitoring of public complaints will also be done at the departmental level. The Chief Minister also directed to carry out STP work on the tributaries of Ganga and to take public suggestions for the cleanliness of Ganga.
List of personnel posted at one place for five years should be called for
The Chief Minister said that the list of personnel posted at one place for five years should be made available. The concerned departments will have to work in coordination to resolve the complaints of road digging when a new drinking water line is laid. He said that Uttarakhand has entered the Silver Festival year. Special attention has to be given to innovations and best practices in the youth state. Efforts should be made to make some such schemes in the state which become a model for other states as well.
Tree plantation will be done to reduce the effect of greenhouse gas
It was told in the meeting that there is also a plan to measure the flow and discharge of rain-based rivers. In this, IRI Roorkee and National Hydrological Institute will mark the work to be done in the rivers. Mountain agriculture will be made profitable under the Uttarakhand Climate Friendly Rainfed Agriculture Project.
To reduce the effect of greenhouse gas, plantation will be done in the barren land of farmers. Many officials including Vice President of Infrastructure Monitoring Council Vishwas Dabur, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Principal Secretary RK Sudhanshu and R Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary Shailesh Bagoli were present in the meeting.
