Due to heavy rains in the state, 325 roads are closed. These include national highways, state highways, main district roads, rural roads and other district roads. Earlier their number was 387, out of which 62 roads have been opened. Public Works Department and Irrigation Minister Satpal Maharaj held a meeting with the departmental officials and took information regarding the roads and flood protection works due to heavy rains.

279 machines are working
The cabinet minister said that 279 machines along with personnel are continuously working to open the 325 roads which are closed due to debris on the roads due to heavy rains in the state. He said that two out of the three national highways that were closed have been made operational. Apart from this, out of the 14 state highways affected, eight state highways have been opened for traffic. The cabinet minister said that the British-era bridge in Mohan, Ranikhet of Almora has been damaged. Alternative arrangements for valley bridge are being made there. Regarding the irrigation department, he said that the water level of rivers has increased due to rain in Garhwal division, but there is no danger at present. Due to heavy rains for four days under irrigation section Almora in Kumaon division, Kosi, Panar, Jagan rivers and local rivers and drains are in spate. Due to heavy rains in Almora, fifty canals have been damaged and 90 meters of security wall has been damaged in Pithoragarh district, the cost of which is about 135 lakhs. At the same time, 29 canals and 18 flood schemes have been damaged in Champawat.
