The process of reservation for posts and places in panchayats will start from Wednesday in view of holding three-tier panchayat elections in the remaining 12 districts of the state except Haridwar next month. Panchayat Raj Secretary Chandresh Kumar has issued a government order related to the timetable for this. According to the timetable, the final publication of reservation proposals will be done on June 18 and it will be made available to the State Election Commission on June 19. On the basis of this, the commission will declare the election schedule. As per the indications, it is clear that the notification of elections can be issued on June 20 or 21. Three-tier panchayats are held in Haridwar district along with Uttar Pradesh. This sequence has been maintained since the formation of the state. The last panchayat elections in the remaining districts were held in the year 2019. When elections could not be held even after the completion of the five-year term, administrators were appointed in them last year. Even during the six-month administrator tenure, the situation of elections did not arise. As a result, the panchayats remained leaderless for two weeks. However, now officers have been authorized for administrative work in these.
Also, it has been decided to hold panchayat elections in July. For this, other formalities including delimitation had already been done, but the issue of reservation was pending in view of the fresh determination of OBC reservation. After the approval of the reservation rules, now the time table for reservation has been issued. District Magistrates have to prepare reservation proposals as per the schedule. The process of reservation for the posts of Gram Pradhan, Block Pramukh and Gram, Area and District Panchayat members will start from Wednesday and will continue till June 18. The government will decide the reservation for the posts of District Panchayat President, while the responsibility of the posts of Gram Pradhan and Block Pramukh will be of the District Magistrates.
