In the meeting of Uttarakhand State Aandolankari Manch, speakers expressed concern over the encroachment of hawkers from footpaths to roads, hooliganism at tourist places, pressure horns of vehicles and theft. In this regard, a delegation of the forum will soon give a memorandum to the DGP. On Sunday, the state agitators put forth their views in the forum’s meeting in the hall of Shaheed Smarak. Senior state agitators Pushpalata Silmana and Satya Pokhriyal said that we had struggled with the idea of an ideal state. But the way incidents like hooliganism at tourist places, loud noise of vehicles and use of loud horns, increasing theft, molestation of girls are increasing is a matter of concern. The state president of the forum, Jagmohan Singh Negi said that recently the forum had given a memorandum to the SSP regarding the concern of law and order, but till now the situation remains the same. State spokesperson Pradeep Kukreti, Keshav Uniyal and Radha Tiwari demanded the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary to personally hold a review meeting on law and order. They said that police station-wise responsibility should be fixed at each district level.
Action should be taken against encroachment on footpaths in the city market as well as e-rickshaws and handcarts. Proper verification of outside students should be done. Civil police should be present at tourist places. It was decided in the meeting that a memorandum will be given to the DGP next week in which the Police Headquarters will be given one month’s time to take better steps for law and order. If this does not happen, the forum will surround the Chief Minister’s residence.
Ramlal Khanduri, Ganesh Dangwal, Hari Mehar, Manoj Nautiyal, Chandrakiran Rana, Santan Singh Rawat, Gaurav Khanduri, Mohan Khatri, Satya Pokhriyal, Tara Pandey, Radha Tiwari etc. were present in the meeting.
