Several areas of the state, including the capital Dehradun, may receive rain even today. According to the Meteorological Department, rain is expected at many places in Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Almora, Pithoragarh and Bageshwar. Apart from this, light to moderate rain may occur at other places.

Mussoorie-Doon road closed, debris removal work in progress
In view of the frequent landslides on the Mussoorie Dehradun road, the police administration stopped the movement of vehicles at Kuthal Gate before Mussoorie. Removal of debris from the route is going on, but the route has not been opened due to frequent landslides.
Locals said that the mountain has been cut by the Public Works Department to widen Mussoorie Dehradun road. The contractor has randomly cut the mountain. Due to which there are frequent landslides and stones are falling. People have demanded that action should be taken against the officials appointed to cut the mountain as well as investigation against the contractor.

35 families of Solnu and Manjira drinking rain water

35 families of Solnu and Manjira Tok of Kotma Gram Panchayat of Kalimath Valley in Guptkashi are forced to drink water for two months. The drinking water line of the villages is damaged from place to place, but no efforts are yet to repair and rebuild it.

The drinking water line was constructed in the Special Components Plan for Solnu and Manjira nearly a decade ago, but after that the plan was not rectified, due to which it was dilapidated. Two months ago, due to landslides caused by heavy torrential rains, the drinking water scheme has been broken in many places from the source to the village.

Kshetra Panchayat members Someshwari Devi, Pradhan Asha Devi, social workers Om Prakash Bhatt, Sandeep Bhatt, Kuldeep Shah, Ramlal Arya said that the damaged drinking water line has been conveyed to the administration and concerned authorities.

Here, EE Sanjay Singh of the Jal Sansthan informed that a lot of schemes have been damaged due to the rain, proposals are being prepared for permanent repair and reconstruction. Every effort is being made to get water under alternative arrangements in the affected villages.
