Internal routes of the pilgrimage city will start being built from the first week of March
Rishikesh: The work of renovation of roads in the municipal corporation area will start from the first week of March at a cost of 18 crores. The construction work of hot mix roads was started before the code of conduct for the civic elections was imposed. After some work was done, when questions were raised on it, the Municipal Commissioner stopped the work.
The internal roads in the Rishikesh Municipal Corporation area have been in bad condition for a long time. Due to potholes at various places on these roads, it becomes difficult to walk on the roads. The potholes on the roads get filled with water even in light rain. Due to which the problems of the people increase further. The city dwellers were demanding road construction for a long time. About 18 crore rupees were released from the infrastructure fund to improve the condition of roads in the pilgrimage city. Construction work could not start due to the Lok Sabha elections, monsoon etc. In between, this matter was also entangled in tenders. Before the code of conduct for the municipal elections was imposed, all the obstacles coming in the way of road renovation were removed. On December 13, local MLA and Urban Development Minister Premchand Agarwal laid the foundation stone of the scheme in the Municipal Corporation. The work of roads was also started by the Municipal Corporation. The roads were repaired on Nehru Marg, Pragati Vihar, Gas Agency Road. The controversy started as soon as the work started in Balaji Bagh Wali Gali and Ashutosh Nagar. Local people had raised questions on building a hot mix road in cold weather. After that, the Municipal Commissioner had stopped the work by giving notice to the officials of the construction section and the contractor. Since then this work is going on at a standstill. Uttarakhand Jan Vikas Manch had raised questions on road construction by submitting a memorandum to the Municipal Commissioner on 27 December. They said that construction material is being put on top of the old dilapidated road. Due to which the road will not last long. At some places the label has also been raised. Roads already built will also be inspected
The roads at the places where roads have already been constructed will also be inspected. If the road has been dug up somewhere or its label is not correct, then the concerned contractor will get it repaired. After that further construction work will be started.
