After the withdrawal of names, now there are 10 candidates in the fray for the post of Mayor and 386 candidates for the post of councilor. After the withdrawal of the name of BJP leader Prakash Suman Dhyani from the post of Mayor, there will be a Mahasamgram between 10 candidates including BJP-Congress. At the same time, 41 have withdrawn their names from the post of councilor. Which also includes some rebels of BJP and Congress. After the persuasion of the MLA and the fleet leaders, the rebel candidates came on the back foot. At the same time, now there is a direct contest between BJP and Congress in many wards. Along with BJP-Congress, candidates of three other parties and five independent candidates have contested for the post of Mayor. However, a rebel candidate of Congress is also challenging as an independent candidate. Now today the election symbols will be allotted to the independent candidates. Now BJP’s Saurabh Thapliyal, Congress’ Virendra Pokhriyal, Uttarakhand Kranti Dal’s Virendra Singh Bisht, UKD Democratic’s Rajkishore Singh Rawat, Aam Aadmi Party’s Ravindra Singh Anand, independent candidates Aarushi Sundariyal, Rajendra Prasad Gairola, Vijay Prasad Bhattarai, Sardar Khan Pappu and Sulochana Ishtwal are in the fray for the post of mayor of Dehradun Municipal Corporation.

41 candidates withdrew their nominations for the post of councillor

A total of 431 candidates had filed nominations for the post of councillor in 100 wards of Dehradun Municipal Corporation. Out of which four nominations were rejected due to objections. After this, 41 candidates withdrew their nominations on Thursday. After which a total of 386 candidates are in the fray in the final list.

Raipur MLA reached the nomination center

Raipur MLA Umesh Sharma Kau was seen very active regarding councillors and candidates. After objections to the nomination of Congress candidates, on Thursday he reached the Municipal Corporation with the rebel candidates of BJP and got their names withdrawn. On his request, rebel Azim Mirza from Bhagat Singh Colony ward, rebel Navneet Thakur from Mata Mandir ward, former BJP councilor Sushila Rawat from Defense Colony withdrew their names, giving up their rebellious attitude. Rebel Kamal Panwar from Gujarada Mansingh withdrew his name. At the same time, rebel candidate Girish Prasad from Danda Lakhound also withdrew his name. Mangal Singh Rathore from Amwala Tarla and rebel NK Gusain and Shivpal Rawat from Majri Mafi also came on the back foot. Ashish Giri, who is rebelling against BJP in Lohia Nagar ward, and rebel candidate Subhash Baliyan from Dehrakhas ward withdrew their names on the request of MLA Chamoli.

Congress also successful in placating rebels
Congress has also been successful in placating the candidates who are contesting the election by rebelling against the party. In the presence of senior Congress leader and Chakrata MLA Pritam Singh, Congress leader Godavari Thapali and block president Mohan Singh Thapali got the rebels to join the Congress and withdrew their names. Paritosh Bisht from ward Amwala Tarla, Lalit Thapa from ward Mohbbewala, Naveen Chaudhary from ward Malsi, Priyanka Agarwal from ward Sridev Suman Nagar, Meena Rawat from ward Indirapuram and Nidhi Devi from ward Arcadia Grant have withdrawn their names.
