Harish Rawat met Pritam Singh before the Lok Sabha and municipal elections, the politics of Uttarakhand heats up

The process of bridging the gap between veteran leaders in the Congress seems to be intensifying. Former Chief Minister and senior party leader Harish Rawat on Wednesday reached the residence of former Leader of Opposition Pritam Singh at his Yamuna Colony residence.
The political implications of the meeting of both the satraps of the party are being extracted. Both the leaders talked with each other for a long time. Also said that the Congress will unitedly face the challenges before the Congress.
Lok Sabha elections are to be held in the state next year. Municipal elections will also be held after eight months this year. The party does not want to repeat the past history in these elections. Keeping this in mind, there are chances of a change in the attitude of the veteran leaders of the state.
Politics within the party has also heated up after former Chief Minister Harish Rawat’s sudden arrival at his residence to meet former Leader of Opposition and sixth time MLA from Chakrata, Pritam Singh. Swords have been drawn between the two leaders for a long time.
Pritam and Harish Rawat had come face to face with each other after being removed from the post of state Congress president just nine months before the last assembly elections. Pritam Singh was given the post of Leader of Opposition by the party. Where Harish Rawat insisted on declaring the face before the elections, Pritam Singh was a strong advocate of contesting the elections under collective leadership against it.
After the defeat in the assembly elections, when the Congress high command dropped the throne, Pritam Singh also came in its support. His claim to the post of Leader of the Opposition was rejected by the party. Hurt by this neglect, there was a figure of thirty-six between Pritam Singh and Harish Rawat.
Now, keeping in mind the Lok Sabha elections to be held next year, the party satraps are stressing on normalizing the political situation. It is believed that Harish Rawat can stake his claim from Haridwar parliamentary seat. Rawat contested the last Lok Sabha election from the Nainital parliamentary seat.
Rawat not only remained a Member of Parliament from Haridwar, but was also successful in becoming a cabinet minister in the UPA government at the Center and then the Chief Minister of the state. Pritam Singh is considered to have good penetration among the big leaders of Haridwar.
Along with this, Pritam’s stand on three assembly seats in Dehradun district under Haridwar seat can create a profitable situation for ally Harish Rawat. The meeting of the two leaders is also being viewed from this point of view. After this meeting, Pritam Singh said that Harish Rawat is a senior leader of the party.
During the meeting with him, discussions were held on strengthening the party. Harish Rawat has also made more or less a similar comment. He said that the Congress will move forward with a strong determination to achieve its goal.
