CM Dhami said, ‘It is the government’s commitment to provide employment opportunities to local residents’

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the government’s efforts are continuing towards the overall development of the state and improving the standard of living of the common people. In the light of the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, he said that keeping in mind the interests of the public, his cabinet has taken many historic decisions.

Along with promoting local products and enterprises, it is the government’s commitment to provide employment opportunities to women and local residents. The government has taken initiative by taking important decisions in this direction. The Chief Minister said that by amending the Uttarakhand Procurement Rules, it has been decided to get works up to Rs 10 crore in various departments done through local persons and local registered firms. Not only this, a system has been made to provide purchasing preference to promote self-help groups and MSMEs and local products. Till now there was no such arrangement for self-help groups.

He said that Uttarakhand Mega Industrial and Investment Policy-2025 has been approved to promote industries in the state. This will create more grounds for setting up industries in the plains and hilly areas of the state. He said that the objective of this policy is to establish the state as a competitive destination for capital investment at the national and international level and to develop a favorable ecosystem for capital investment in large-scale manufacturing enterprises. This will not only boost the state’s economy but will also create additional employment opportunities. The Chief Minister said that the Cabinet has approved the Yoga Policy and Uttarakhand has become the first state in the country to do so. He said that the objective of the policy is to develop yoga as a social, educational, economic and tourism based model, not limiting it to only spiritual and personal practice. The vision of the policy is to make Uttarakhand a global center of yoga and wellness. This will create more than 13 thousand jobs in the state. 2500 yoga teachers will be certified by the Yoga Certification Board and more than 10 thousand yoga instructors are likely to get employment in home stays, hotels etc.
