Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed displeasure over the lack of prevention of cases like conversion, love jihad despite the existence of laws. He directed strict action on such cases. Directing to coordinate between all the concerned agencies to solve the problem of demographic change, he said that intensive investigation campaigns should be conducted daily in the border districts so that Uttarakhand does not become a refuge for criminals from other states. Chief Minister Dhami on Monday reviewed the law and order of the state with senior officials of the government and Director General of Police, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Inspector Generals of Police, District Magistrates and Senior Superintendents of Police through video conferencing at the Chief Minister’s residence. The Chief Minister said that there should be a reflection on where crimes are increasing in the state and why they are increasing.
CM gave instructions regarding law and order
The fear of police in the minds of criminals and the trust of the common man towards the police should increase. Expressing displeasure over the robbery at the jewellery shop and other crimes in the state, the Chief Minister gave instructions to effectively control the crimes and make the law and order tight. He said that for crime control, mutual coordination among the officers, quick communication of information, making the intelligence system effective, as well as speeding up night patrolling should be done. All officers should visit the area by making a roster at night. Police stations and posts should be inspected regularly. This work is being done less or not at all. He told that an investigation committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of SP City in the case of robbery at the jewellery shop in Haridwar. Action should be ensured against whoever is responsible in this case. The Chief Minister gave instructions to focus on the verification of tenants and outsiders, and also asked the officers to focus on preparing the children studying in tenants and other educational institutions as better citizens. He said that it should not be seen that someone is beaten up in public. Vehicles should be checked and police should be seen at crowded places. He said that Gaura Shakti App has been made for women working in private institutions or other working women. It has been made more active. He stressed on prompt disposal of complaints related to crime and simple behaviour of officers with subordinates and staying away from the feeling of regionalism.
The Chief Minister gave instructions for public awareness for effective prevention of cyber crime. To make the state drug-free by 2025, attention will have to be paid to community policing. Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Principal Secretary RK Sudhanshu, Secretary Shailesh Bagoli, Vinay Shankar Pandey, Director General of Information Banshidhar Tiwari were present in the meeting. DGP Abhinav Kumar, Kumaon Divisional Commissioner, all District Magistrates participated in the meeting through video conferencing.
