Dehradun:
In a major breakthrough in the sensational killing of a businessman and tennis player near the Tibetan Market, Dehradun Police have arrested the main shooter and his accomplice after separate encounters at different locations. Both accused sustained bullet injuries in their legs during the police action and are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The murder, which had shocked the city, prompted an intensive operation across the district. Acting on the directions of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), teams were deployed across urban as well as rural areas, with checkpoints set up and extensive search operations carried out to track down the suspects.
According to police officials, the first encounter took place early in the morning in the Ladpur forest area under Raipur police station limits. During a routine checking operation, one of the suspects opened fire on the police team in an attempt to escape. The police retaliated in self-defense, injuring the accused in the leg before arresting him. He was immediately shifted to Coronation Hospital for medical treatment.
In a separate incident, another suspect riding a scooter tried to evade police checking at a nearby outpost. When signaled to stop, he turned back and entered an abandoned factory premises, where he also fired at the police team. The police responded with controlled firing, injuring him in the right leg and taking him into custody.
Police recovered two country-made pistols and the scooter used by the accused. During preliminary interrogation, both suspects confessed to their involvement in the shooting incident near the Tibetan Market.
Officials confirmed that the accused are being treated under police supervision, and further questioning is underway to determine the motive behind the murder and to identify if any other individuals were involved in the crime.
The swift action by Dehradun Police has brought some relief to residents, as authorities continue to strengthen security and maintain strict vigilance across the city. Further details in the case are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
