On the second day of her three-day visit to Uttarakhand, President Draupadi Murmu addressed a special session of the state assembly. The President arrived in the assembly chamber at 11 a.m. The Speaker of the Assembly welcomed her arrival, saying it was a matter of pride for Uttarakhand. Chief Minister Dhami was also present on the stage. President Murmu expressed her gratitude to women, state activists, and people across the state. She said their arrival provided new energy. 500 bills have been passed so far. She established parliamentary democracy by rising above party politics on this important occasion. She made Gairsand in Chamoli the summer capital. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said this is a proud time for the state. He said that the President’s entire life has been marked by determination and struggle, and that she has constantly struggled in her personal life. Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya, while addressing the special session, said that it is my good fortune that the President’s address took place here. Uttarakhand is diverse due to its geographical conditions; our neighbours are China and Nepal. Ganga and Yamuna are connected to our civilization. Keeping in mind the natural disaster, the Leader of Opposition said that we have to make proper arrangements to deal with these disasters. He suggested measures to save the water, forests and land of Uttarakhand. He stressed on expanding and strengthening plains employment, health and education.
