Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the state government will take all necessary steps before the start of the upcoming Hemkund Sahib Yatra to ensure smooth conduct. He stated that, like the Chardham Yatra, the Hemkund Sahib Yatra holds immense spiritual and cultural significance. Situated high in the Himalayas, this sacred site is the hallmark of Uttarakhand. The state government aims to ensure the safety, convenience, and overall development of the pilgrimage routes. The Chief Minister stated that the proposed ropeway project from Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib will make the pilgrimage more accessible and attractive. On Monday, Narendra Jeet Singh Bindra, President of the Gurudwara Shri Hemkund Sahib Management Trust, met the Chief Minister at the Secretariat. Bindra expressed gratitude for the cooperation of the state government, the Chief Minister, and the local administration in the successful conduct of this year’s Hemkund Sahib Yatra. He reported that despite adverse weather conditions, a record 275,000 pilgrims participated in the Yatra this year. Devotees praised the government and administration for their excellent management of the arrangements and safety of the pilgrims. Bindra also offered suggestions to the Chief Minister regarding improvements in infrastructure and logistics along the Yatra route. He explained that two months before the start of the Yatra, the bridge connecting Govindghat to the Hemkund route was destroyed in a landslide. However, due to the Chief Minister’s prompt intervention, a new valley bridge was completed ahead of time, ensuring the Yatra was not disrupted.
He also thanked the Chief Minister for the decision to celebrate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji in a grand manner in the state. Bindra expressed confidence that under the Chief Minister’s guidance, the Hemkund Sahib Yatra would become a symbol of devotion, unity, and excellent management.
