The state-level campaign ‘Healthy Women, Empowered Families’ was launched on Wednesday, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. The health camp was inaugurated jointly by Governor Lt. Gen. Gurmit Singh (retd.) and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the Government Dehradun Medical College auditorium. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the beneficiaries virtually from Dhar, Madhya Pradesh. 563 beneficiaries registered for the camp and availed various health services. Six health camps were organized in Dehradun district on Wednesday, where 1600 beneficiaries benefited from services including screening for high blood pressure, diabetes, cervical cancer, breast and oral cancer, nutritional counseling, vaccination, and Ayushman cards. Rajesh Kumar, Housing Secretary Meenakshi Sundaram, Director General of Information Banshidhar Tiwari, NHM Mission Director Manuj Goyal, Additional Secretary Anuradha Pal, District Magistrate Savin Bansal, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, Principal of Dehradun Medical College Dr. Geeta Jain, and Medical Superintendent Dr. R.S. Bisht were present at the program.
Make this campaign a people’s movement – Governor
Governor Lt. Gen. Gurmit Singh (retd.) said that only healthy and aware women can lead society in the right direction. This campaign is the cornerstone of strengthening families and society. The public should actively participate in this campaign and make it a people’s movement. Our aim is to provide comprehensive healthcare facilities to every woman. The Governor said that the biggest message today is that we all must adopt the principle of ‘Make in India’; everything we use should be made in India. I am firmly convinced that this resolve will usher in a great revolution. The progress made by families, women’s self-help groups, and production units in Uttarakhand in terms of quality, branding, and packaging will surely transform into a revolution when combined with the ‘Make in India’ mantra. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the country has witnessed all-round development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Even during times of disaster, the Prime Minister has always supported Uttarakhand. Whether it was the Ranichuli disaster, Joshimath, Silkyara, or this year’s natural disaster, the Prime Minister has not only provided support to the state but also encouraged our efforts. Today, on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti and the Prime Minister’s birthday, the ‘Healthy Women, Empowered Families’ campaign was launched. He said that women in the state have made a significant contribution to development. Women are showcasing their skills in self-employment. Ensuring their health is essential. If women are healthy, families and society will be strong. This campaign will provide comprehensive healthcare services to women and give them an opportunity to live a dignified, safe, and healthy life. The Chief Minister said that the pilgrimage to Badrinath, Kedarnath, and Gangotri Dham in the state has resumed smoothly, and the pilgrimage to Yamunotri Dham will also be started soon.
Health Minister’s Appeal
Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said that this campaign is extremely important from the perspective of the health of the general public, especially women. Approximately 4114 health camps will be organized across the state in government medical colleges, district and sub-district hospitals, community health centers, and Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. Representatives of the public, ministers in charge of districts, MPs, MLAs, mayors, and district panchayat presidents, along with other dignitaries, will participate in these camps. These camps will be monitored daily, and all district magistrates have been assigned this responsibility. Departmental officials have been given specific instructions to ensure that maximum people benefit from these camps.
