On the complaints of disorder in de-addiction and rehabilitation centers in the state, the Health Department has started a statewide campaign on the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. In this episode, a surprise inspection was done at Selaqui in Dehradun and Jeevan Jyoti De-addiction Center in Haridwar. Deficiencies have also been found here. At the same time, the Health Department has also decided to activate the Mental Health Review Board in all the districts of the state. The state government is continuously running a campaign against drug addiction. For this, steps are being taken to get the youth out of the grip of drugs and to improve mental health services. On Tuesday, Secretary Health Dr. R Rajesh Kumar directed to start an intensive inspection campaign in all the de-addiction and rehabilitation centers in the state. He has instructed all the District Magistrates to ensure regular checking of the status, registration and facilities of the centers operating in their districts. The centers which do not meet the prescribed standards should be identified and action should be taken for financial penalty and closure. He has directed the State Mental Health Authority to conduct continuous inspection campaigns while keeping a strict vigil on all de-addiction centres.
133 centres have been provisionally registered in the state
The Health Secretary said that 133 mental health institutes and de-addiction centres in the state have been provisionally registered. Before final registration, on-site inspection and document verification of all these has been made mandatory.
Monthly meeting of the board will be mandatory in every district
The Health Secretary has asked to constitute a Mental Health Review Board in every district for the examination and proper treatment of mentally ill patients as well as to ensure their monthly meeting. At present, this board has been constituted in seven districts in the state. He has given instructions to constitute it in the remaining six districts as well.
