Amidst the questions being raised about the proposed works in the area of Haridwar-Rishikesh Ganga Corridor, the government has clarified the situation. Secretary Planning R Meenakshi Sundaram said that beautification work will be done in the Ganga Corridor area without demolition. Also, open space will be developed in Haridwar and Rishikesh, so that the pressure of crowd on bathing and festivals can be reduced. Many other works including beautification have been proposed under the Ganga Corridor in the cities of Haridwar and Rishikesh located on the banks of River Ganga. In such a situation, it is feared that old buildings may be demolished to develop this corridor.
It will be developed keeping in mind 25 years
Some time ago, the public representatives and the residents of the concerned cities had drawn attention to this apprehension of the people of the area in a meeting with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Also, it was emphasized that this corridor should be developed keeping in mind the requirements of the next 25 years. Chief Minister Dhami had clarified that the suggestions of public representatives will be implemented to develop the Ganga Corridor. Also, no building will be demolished. Now Secretary Planning R Meenakshi Sundaram also clarified that for the works being proposed in the Ganga Corridor, no building coming in the corridor area will be demolished. Beautification work will be done without demolishing the building. The form of mythological sites will also be kept intact.
Road will be built from Hanol to Thdiyar: Maharaj
A new road will be built from the famous Hanol Mahasu Devta temple to Thdiyar in the tribal Jaunsar Bawar area. Along with this, ghats will be constructed on both sides of the Tons river at Hanol and Thdiyar. PWD and Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj gave instructions to the officials in this regard during the review of the master plan of Hanol temple in the auditorium of the Tourism Development Council located at Garhi Cantt on Monday. Cabinet Minister Maharaj stressed on better coordination between PWD, Tourism and Irrigation Department for the implementation of the master plan of Hanol temple. After the meeting, he said that PWD will construct about one and a half kilometer road from Hanol to Thdiyar and a bridge at Thdiyar, along with beautification of the road. He informed that PWD has already approved the construction of a connecting road from the guest house of Garhwal Mandal Development Corporation to Khattal.
He also gave instructions to widen the sides of the roads, install sign boards at various places and construct toilets on the travel route. According to Maharaj, instructions have been given to the officials of the Irrigation Department to take steps to prevent soil erosion from Hanol Mahasu Devta Temple to Thdiyar Jhulapul. Tourism Development Council’s ACEO Abhishek Rohila, Finance Controller Jagat Singh Chauhan, PWD Chief Engineer Rajesh Sharma and other officials were present in the meeting.
