The officers are not even bothering to spend the crores of rupees received under the PM Shri scheme. Due to which the second installment to be received by Uttarakhand from the central government is stuck. In such a situation, the Education Department has issued a notice to the CEO (Chief Education Officer) of Almora, Haridwar, Pithoragarh and Bageshwar and sought a reply for not being able to spend the budget received from the Center. Director General of Education Jharna Kamthan has warned of departmental action if the reply is not given within seven days.
Show cause notice issued
Director General of Education Jharna Kamthan said that the progress report of PM Shri Vidyalaya in Almora district is very disappointing. Only about 29 percent of the amount released in this district has been spent till the stipulated time. On which a show cause notice has been issued to Almora CEO Atresh Sayana. The Chief Education Officer has spent only Rs 4.57 lakh till the stipulated time from the amount of more than one crore 15 lakh rupees received by the district under PM Shri. They have been warned of departmental action if they do not get a reply within seven days.
Only 38% of the funds have been spent in Pithoragarh and 35% in Bageshwar
Apart from this, clarification has also been sought from Haridwar’s Chief Education Officer KK Gupta, Pithoragarh’s CEO Harak Ram Kohli and Bageshwar’s CEO Gajendra Singh. In Haridwar too, only 52% of the budget released for PM Shri Vidyalaya has been spent. Whereas, only 38% of the funds have been spent in Pithoragarh and 35% in Bageshwar. The Director General said that there are clear instructions from the Central Government that the funds received for the PM Shri Vidyalaya Yojana have to be spent on time and its progress report has to be sent to the Central Government. The officials should understand its seriousness themselves.
