BJP MLA from Kedarnath Shailarani Rawat dies, was ill for many days; CM Dhami pays tribute

BJP MLA from Kedarnath Shailarani Rawat died on Tuesday night. She was 68 years old and was unwell for a long time. She breathed her last at 10.35 pm at Max Hospital in Dehradun. MLA’s personal secretary Papendra Rawat said that she was fighting for life on ventilator for two days. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed grief over the death of Shailarani Rawat. He said, ‘Very painful news has been received about the death of popular MLA Shaila Rani Rawat from Kedarnath Assembly. Her departure is an irreparable loss for the party and the people of the area.

CM Dhami paid tribute

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid tribute by offering a wreath on the mortal remains of Kedarnath MLA Shailarani Rawat at the BJP office. Expressing deep grief over the demise of MLA Shailrani Rawat, the Chief Minister said that her demise is an irreparable loss for the entire state and the party. She was always ready to solve the problems of the people of her constituency. The Chief Minister said that Shailrani Rawat always worked dedicatedly for the development of Kedarnath constituency and got the problems of the people resolved by giving priority to them at the government and administration level. She always worked to raise the voice of the people standing at the last end of the society and take it towards solution. She had a simple, easy-going and soft-spoken personality. The Chief Minister prayed to God to give place to the departed soul in his lotus feet and to provide patience to the bereaved family and well-wishers in this hour of grief. He said that Shailrani Rawat’s dedication towards duty and public service will always be remembered. On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, Rekha Arya, Mr. Saurabh Bahuguna, MP Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat, MLA Mr. Umesh Sharma Kau, Mr. Khajan Das, Renu Bisht, Mr. Suresh Singh Chauhan and party officials paid tribute to Shailarani Rawat.

Shailarani Rawat had fallen during the assembly election campaign in 2017, in which she was injured. Meanwhile, she fell prey to a serious illness. After nearly three years of treatment, she recovered and became active in politics again. Two months ago, she again fell from the stairs of Omkareshwar temple and got injured.

For the first time in the year 2012, she registered victory on a Congress ticket
She was admitted to Max Hospital due to a fracture in the spine. Just two days ago, her daughter Aishwarya Rawat had posted an emotional post on the internet media and wished for her recovery. Shailarani was a two-time MLA from Kedarnath. For the first time in the year 2012, she won on a Congress ticket. In the year 2016, she joined the BJP. In the year 2022, she reached the Vidhan Sabha by winning on a BJP ticket. She was associated with social, cultural and educational organizations. She also played an active role in the Uttarakhand state movement. She was also active in the Panchayat elections. In 1997, she was elected the head of the Agastyamuni development block. In 2003, she won the election of the District Panchayat President.
