Uttarakhand will get power from center for next six months, help from Kashipur gas plant

There is news of relief for electricity consumers and energy corporation of Uttarakhand. Union Ministry of Power has issued orders to provide additional power to the state for the next six months. Union Energy Minister RK Singh has taken this initiative on the request of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Along with this, Uttarakhand will also start getting 321 MW electricity daily from next April 1 from the gas plant located at Kashipur.
There is a danger of electricity crisis in Uttarakhand amidst the possibility of severe heat wave. However, to deal with the power shortage, the state government is also making all out efforts.
Earlier this month, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had requested the central government to allot additional 300 MW power to Uttarakhand for one year. On which positive indications were given by the Union Energy Minister. Now the order has been issued by the Center to provide electricity for six months.
Energy Corporation’s Managing Director Anil Kumar said that at present Uttarakhand is being given additional power from April 1 to September 30. Along with this, a contract has been signed to buy 321 MW electricity daily for the next two months from the Kashipur-based gas plant.
In such a situation, it is expected that consumers will not have to face power cuts in summer. Even if there is a power shortage, it will be procured from the real time market. The contract can be extended after September as per requirement. Along with this, the increase in production from hydropower projects of the state can also provide relief.
