The state government will present a budget of about 79 thousand crores for the next financial year 2023-24 in the budget session starting from March 13 at Bharadisain in Gairsain of Chamoli. The cabinet on Thursday approved the Governor’s address along with this budget proposal.
The Dhami government had passed the budget of 65571.49 crores for the current financial year 2022-23 from the Legislative Assembly in June last month. In the month of December last, the Vidhansabha approved the supplementary budget of 5300 crores. Now the budget for the next financial year will be passed by the assembly.
According to sources, the budget proposal was presented by the Finance Department in the cabinet meeting. The new budget is considered important in view of the Lok Sabha elections to be held in the year 2024. The budget for the new financial year has been increased by Rs 8,000 crore as compared to the total budget amount of about Rs 71,000 crore including supplementary in the current financial year. This increase in the budget amount will be reflected as an increase in the capital item.
Government more attention on agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry:
In the new budget, the government is going to pay more attention to the primary sector agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry. Giving priority to the primary sector, farming, natural and organic farming will be encouraged with the help of modern technology to strengthen the rural economy and prevent migration. Along with this, steps will be taken by the government in the new budget to make arrangements for supply and marketing for agricultural produce, so that more employment can also be created.
Dhami government is including the development of green cities in its priority in the next financial year. Special attention is going to be given to encourage modern technology in every field. There will be a clear glimpse of this in the new budget. At the same time, provisions have been made in the budget for e-vehicle policy to replace old vehicles to encourage environment-friendly transport.
Financial arrangements are being made in the budget for new vehicles for ministers and high officials. According to sources, changes can be made in the new budget before it is presented in the assembly. On the other hand, the achievements of the government have been given in detail in the Governor’s address. There will be an address by the Governor on the first day of the session. The new budget can be presented in the assembly on March 15.
