Western Disturbance Brings Rain and Snowfall to Uttarakhand’s Peaks, Temperatures Drop

While Cyclone Motha has no direct impact on Uttarakhand, the Western Disturbance has also activated the Himalayan region. This has led to light snowfall and rain on Uttarakhand’s peaks. Rain and snowfall were recorded, particularly in the higher Himalayan regions of Kumaon. Temperatures also dropped in most areas. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is expected to remain dry in most parts of the state today. Partial clouds are possible in some mountainous areas. The arrival of a fresh Western Disturbance in the Himalayan region on Tuesday brought a change in the weather. Partial clouds hovered over Dehradun and surrounding areas since morning. While sunshine was also visible at some places, the sunshine and clouds alternated throughout the day. Light rain was also reported in the mountainous regions amid partial clouds. Light rain and snowfall were recorded in the afternoon, particularly in the border areas of Kumaon. Due to which the mercury dropped by two to three degrees Celsius in most areas. In many areas of Kumaon, the mercury dropped by up to five degrees Celsius. However, the minimum temperature remained above normal. According to the Meteorological Center, the weather is expected to remain dry in most areas of the state today. There may be partial cloud cover at some places in the hilly areas. Partial cloud cover is expected in Doon.
