Host Uttarakhand has created a new record by performing brilliantly in the National Games. The state achieved century of medals by winning one gold and two silver medals on the last day. This includes 24 gold, 35 silver and 42 bronze medals.
In the kayaking and canoeing competitions in the National Games, Sonia Devi of Uttarakhand performed brilliantly and won the gold medal in the women’s K-1 500 meter event. She thrilled the audience by completing the race in 02:06.935 seconds. G. Parvati of Services won the silver medal with 02:07.800, while Khwairakpam Dhanamanjuri Devi of Odisha won the bronze medal with a time of 02:08.466. At the same time, Uttarakhand won the silver medal in the men’s K-4 500 meter event. The team included Aditya Saini, Vishal Dangi, Harshvardhan Singh Shekhawat and Prabhat Kumar. The team won the medal with a timing of 1:28.609 seconds. This took the number of medals in the medal tally of the National Games to 99. Uttarakhand created a new record by scoring a century of medals as the host state won another silver in the Netball Mixed Team. The Netball team included Mamta, Anshul, Pushpesh, Gaurav Rawat, Manish Sharma, Jitendra Kumar, Lalit Bisht, Avantika Kantura, Santosh, Diksha Vyas and Chitra.
Services remained on top in the National Games
Services remained on top with 117 medals including 66 gold in the 38th National Games held in Uttarakhand. Maharashtra, which was on the second position, won a total of 188 medals. This includes 52 gold, 68 silver and 68 bronze medals. While Haryana remained on the third position in the medal tally with 145 medals including 44 gold.
