The government has made it clear that private schools will only be able to charge fees determined by the government. In this regard, Director of Secondary Education, Dr.

Mukul Kumar Sati has issued strict instructions to all Chief Education Officers in the state. In his order, the Director clarified that complaints are being received continuously against private schools affiliated with the CBSE and ICSE boards. Based on these complaints, instructions have been given to take action in accordance with the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi’s notification of October 18, 2018. The notification allows schools to charge fees limited to meeting operational expenses only. According to the instructions, no committee or school may charge any additional fee per capita for the purpose of enrolling students. Fees can only be collected under the heads prescribed by the Education Department. Furthermore, no fee amendments can be made without prior approval of the competent authority or following the prescribed procedure. It has also been clarified that all acts and rules enacted by the state or central government regarding fee regulation will apply equally to CBSE-affiliated schools. Schools will be required to prepare their annual comprehensive information report and upload it on the school website before September 15th of each year. This report will include all essential information, including the school’s name, address, contact details, affiliation status, infrastructure, academic calendar, teacher qualifications and training, academic and sports achievements, PTA activities, and student numbers.
