In view of the natural disasters in the state, another company of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) will soon come into existence. Action is underway at the government level to form a new company. At present, there are five companies of SDRF, which are in 42 posts established in difficult areas across the state. In case of any kind of disaster, SDRF soldiers are the first to reach the spot and start rescue. During the inauguration of SDRF headquarters in Doiwala, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had issued orders to make SDRF another company.
all formalities completed
After the order of the Chief Minister, SDRF Commandant Manikant Mishra started action. Now all the formalities to prepare the company are almost complete. Probably the new company will come into existence within a month. Staff for the newly formed company will be included on deputation from civil police, fire brigade, PSC and other wings.
170 personnel will be included in the company
About 170 personnel will be included in the company. These will include everyone from inspector to constable. Some SDRF personnel will be deployed while some forces from other wings will be deployed. New staff joining SDRF will be given training at different places. SDRF has so far rescued 14,415 injured and recovered 2467 bodies. Apart from this, SDRF also rescued 480 animals.
SDRF came into existence in the year 2013
SDRF was established in Uttarakhand after the Kedarnath disaster of 2013. At that time only two companies were formed. At present, SDRF has five companies, which include specialist teams like Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, DP Driving Team, High Altitude Rescue Team, Canine Team.
At the time of formation of SDRF, there were only 154 soldiers in two companies, whereas now it has increased to 470. SDRF played an important role in the rehabilitation of Kedar Valley after the Kedarnath disaster, cremation of the dead bodies recovered through Operation Mukti with religious rituals, immersion of ashes and resumption of Chardham Yatra.
SDRF has 42 posts
SDRF is present in 42 posts in inaccessible areas. At present there are 42 posts of SDRF in 13 districts of the state. These include Chakrata, Sahasradhara, Dakpathar and Tuni in Dehradun, Dhalwala in Tehri, Koti Colony, Byasi and Ghansali, Ujaili in Uttarkashi, Bhatwadi, Barkot, Mori, Chinyalisaur, Gangotri, Yamunotri, Bhojwasa, Kotdwar in Pauri, Satpuli, Srinagar, Dhumkot, Joshimath, Gauchar, Pandukeshwar, Bhundar, Ghangaria, Badrinath in Chamoli, Sonprayag, Raturi, Kedarnath, Lincholi, Bhimbali, Augustmuni in Rudraprayag, Laksar in Haridwar, Champawat and Tanakpur in Champawat, Police Line Pithoragarh in Pithoragarh, Askot, Kapkot in Bageshwar, There are posts Nainijheel in Nainital, Kherna, Sariapani in Almora and Rudrapur in Udhamsinghnagar.
