Uttarakhand government ready to deal with monsoon, CM Dhami gave instructions for security audit of bridges and helipad

The government is busy preparing to deal with the possible disaster during the monsoon in disaster-prone Uttarakhand. In this episode, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami examined the preparedness of all the districts in a meeting held on Saturday.

He directed to conduct a security audit of all the bridges located in the state in 15 days before the monsoon. Also asked to conduct a security audit of all helipads. Emphasizing on preparing a landslide map of the state, he said that a data base should be created by mapping the sensitive areas, so that they can be treated. He also directed to deploy NDRF and SDRF contingents at all sensitive sites. Apart from this, he asked to get a report from all DEOs within 15 days regarding dilapidated school buildings.

Chief Minister Dhami reached the State Emergency Operations Center late Saturday evening and then reviewed the monsoon preparations in a meeting with senior officials. The Chief Minister directed the Secretary PWD to conduct a security audit of all the bridges and especially to visit the Haldwani to Kainchi Dham, Almora- Pithoragarh road with a view to getting patch work done. He also directed that it should be ensured that the JCB machine reaches within 15 minutes to open the road blocked due to landslide. He asked all the districts to replace the old ambulance vehicles promptly and purchase new vehicles in view of the monsoon season and medical emergency. He directed to make proper security arrangements at all the helipads located in the state. He also said that in view of the disaster, a helicopter should be deployed in Pithoragarh. He asked to complete the work of expansion of the airport and medical college in Pithoragarh district quickly, so that the people of remote areas of this district can get proper treatment during the disaster. He also asked all DEOs to obtain the report of such school buildings within 15 days. He said that dilapidated school buildings should be identified so that teaching-learning should not be done in them during monsoon. Arrangements for shelter etc. should be made with immediate effect for teaching-learning.
