On February 21 last month, during the budget session of the Assembly, while responding to the opposition’s adjournment notice in the House, the opposition had made an issue of the words used in the statement of Agarwal, who was performing the responsibility of Parliamentary Affairs Minister. Although, then Agarwal had apologized for this, but the sequence of protests in the state was not stopping. As a result, both the government and the organization had to be uncomfortable. Today we have to prove that we contributed to Uttarakhand. We were lathi-charged in the state movement. Such a person is being targeted. I am hurt, in such a situation I have to resign.

Made the comment during zero hour
On the first day of the budget session, the Governor’s address was being opposed by the opposition, then the heated exchange between Dwarahat MLA Bisht and Minister Agarwal was the center of discussion. During the zero hour in the House, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Agarwal was responding to the notice of adjournment by Congress MLA Manoj Tiwari. During this time, MLA Bisht allegedly made a comment related to regionalism while talking to fellow MLAs. Minister Agarwal expressed strong objection to this. Then there was a situation of uproar in the House for a long time. Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan said in a strict tone on this incident that the whole country is watching the proceedings of the House. Before the country, comments start coming from abroad about what is going on in your House. She said that we are the people of Uttarakhand. Do not behave like this. Everyone fought for the state. If such a comment is made in the temple of democracy, then it is very unfortunate.

After this, a round of protests started in Uttarakhand. Effigies were burnt and protests were held from Garhwal to Kumaon. While raising slogans, there was a demand to remove Premchand Agarwal from the post of minister.
