UCC implemented in Uttarakhand from today, Halala will be stopped, polygamy banned; know what else will change

Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will be implemented in Uttarakhand from Monday. With this, many things will change in the state. Registration of marriage will be mandatory. For this, registration will be available at the Gram Sabha level. There will be a uniform law of divorce for a person of any caste, religion or sect.

Practices like Halala will be banned
The marriage age of girls will be the same, irrespective of their caste or religion. Children will get the right to adopt in all religions. However, a child of another religion cannot be adopted. After the implementation of UCC, practices like Halala will be stopped in the state. Polygamy will be banned. Girls will have equal share in inheritance as boys.

Registration of live-in relationship mandatory
Registration of live-in relationship will also be mandatory for couples. The child born during this period will also get rights like the child of a married couple. Scheduled tribes have been excluded from the rules and regulations of UCC. No changes have been made in transgender, worship methods and traditions. It is noteworthy that with the implementation of Uniform Civil Code, Uttarakhand will become the first state to do so after independence. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will inaugurate the rules and portal of the code in the Chief Servant House.

Special arrangements for the armed forces

Special arrangements have been made for the armed forces in the UCC. Under this, if a soldier, airman or naval officer is in a special operation, he can make a privileged will. If he writes a will with his own hand and it does not have his signature or evidence (attested), then also it will be valid. The condition will be that it is necessary to confirm that the handwriting is of the soldier.

If the decision is not taken in 15 days, then the marriage will be considered registered

Registration of marriage has been made mandatory in the UCC. For this, the cut off date has been kept as 27 March 2010. That is, all marriages that took place from this day will have to be registered. For this, the marriage will have to be registered within six months. If the application for registration of marriage does not get legal approval, then the application for marriage will be considered accepted.
