The pace of distribution of compensation for the acquired land for the approved roads in the state under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) is very slow. In the review meeting held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Rural Development Minister Ganesh Joshi, it came to light that out of 652 cases of distribution of land compensation, Rs 198.32 crore has been paid in 325 so far. Action is going on on other pending cases. Minister Joshi instructed the officials to take the work related to compensation distribution as a priority and complete it soon.

Instructions to complete the remaining works under PMGSY soon
In the meeting held at the camp office of Cabinet Minister Joshi at Hathibarkala, the PMGSY officials informed the minister that 2620 roads were approved in the first and second phases of PMGSY. Out of these, the work of 2316 roads has been completed. Out of these 367 bridges, 311 have been built. The minister directed to complete the construction of the remaining roads and bridges soon. He also directed the officials to complete the work related to the roads damaged in the disaster, to remove the discrepancies related to forest approval immediately and to build a dumping yard for disposal of debris during road construction. The minister directed to complete the tender process and start the construction work for 43.96 km roads to be built at a cost of Rs 119 crore approved by the Center for eight villages of Pithoragarh district under the Vibrant Village Program.

Work should be done under the Chief Minister Gram Sampark Yojana in villages untouched by the scheme

He also directed that steps should be taken under the Chief Minister Gram Sampark Yojana in those villages which have not been connected to the road under PMGSY or any other scheme. With this, villages with a population of 250 and up to 150 will be connected to the main road.

PMGSY Chief Executive Officer Karmendra Singh, Chief Engineer RP Singh, Superintending Engineer Rajesh Singh etc. were present in the meeting.
