Preparing a new scheme to provide economic, social, and emotional support to elderly women. The minister directed officials to collect feedback from elderly women district-wise. The department will soon launch a scheme to provide economic, social, and emotional support to elderly and helpless women in the state. This is what Women’s Empowerment and Child Development Minister Rekha Arya said. Officials have been instructed to prepare a plan outline for this. Through this scheme, the government will become the support of needy women in their old age. In a meeting with department officials and representatives of non-governmental organizations working with elderly women in the Assembly auditorium, the minister said, “The Dhami government is moving forward with the resolve to fully fulfill its responsibility for half the state’s population. Following the already implemented Mahila Sarathi Yojana, Mahila and Bal Mukhi Sahayata Yojana, and Ekal Mahila Swarozgar Yojana to empower women with self-reliance, a special scheme is now being developed for elderly women as well.” Rekha Arya stated that this plan, aimed at providing essential nutrition, care, and emotional support to helpless elderly women in remote rural areas of the state, came to her mind after several days of deliberation. It was decided at the meeting that small women’s conferences would be held district-wise across the state to directly communicate with elderly women, so that their problems could be understood and the government could take concrete steps to address them. The minister directed officials to expedite the draft of the plan and obtain government approval. Rekha Arya stated, “It is only with the blessings of our grandmothers that the foundation of society remains strong.” The meeting was informed that the government would take necessary steps to alleviate the difficulties faced by elderly women. Secretary Chandresh Kumar, Vikram Singh, Mohit Chaudhary, Neetu Phulera, along with other officials and NGO representatives were present at the meeting.
