State’s first de-addiction center to open in Dehradun, 57 lakhs approved

There is a flood of private de-addiction centers in the streets and neighborhoods. Questions have also been raised about the compliance of rules here. Even cases like murder and rape have come to the fore in de-addiction centers. For a long time, the government has been trying to open a government de-addiction center. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami himself has given instructions to take serious action in this direction. Now Dehradun District Magistrate Savin Bansal has taken this on his shoulders and has taken steps towards opening the state’s first government de-addiction rehabilitation center. It has been decided that a government de-addiction center will be opened in Raiwala. For this, the District Magistrate has also approved a budget of Rs 57.04 lakh with immediate effect. In a press statement issued on Saturday, District Magistrate Savin Bansal said that the de-addiction center will have 30 beds. The district administration will soon select an experienced NGO to run the center. The district administration has also prepared an action plan for the de-addiction center. At the same time, the District Magistrate also held a meeting of Social Welfare and related departmental officers to run the center in a better manner. In this, the District Magistrate directed to start the operation of the proposed Government De-addiction Center on the first floor of the Government Old Age Home, Raiwala, soon. There are 13 rooms with bathrooms, 01 hall and 02 office rooms available on the first floor of the Raiwala Old Age Home. A 30-bed de-addiction center can be easily operated in it. Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah, Chief Medical Officer Dr. MK Sharma, District Social Welfare Officer Deepankar Ghildiyal, Director Social Welfare Jagmohan Singh Kafola, Executive Engineer of RWD Vineet Kuril etc. were present in the meeting.

Systematic treatment is necessary to get rid of addiction

District Magistrate Bansal said that drug addiction has become a serious problem in the society. A systematic treatment is necessary to get rid of drug addiction. Understanding this, Rs 57.04 lakh has been sanctioned from the Mining Trust Fund with immediate effect. In which the center will be operated as per the guidelines of the Government of India.

This is how the centre will be run

There will be 22 posts for the de-addiction centre, whose honorarium for 6 months will be Rs 22.56 lakh.

Rs 9.48 lakh for building maintenance, medicines, electricity-water bills, vehicles, stationery, food etc.

Rs 25 lakh is included for mattresses, furniture, utensils, cupboards, computers, biometric machines etc. for the de-addiction centre.

Proper arrangements will be made for registration, OPD, isolated room, staff room, store room, waiting area etc. in the de-addiction centre.
