To groom future Olympian shooters, the Sports Department has intensified the departmental efforts to convert the newly built Trishul Shooting Range in Maharana Pratap Sports College into a shooting academy. The cooperation of the Army and Police will also be taken in the operation of the shooting academy. With the establishment of the shooting academy, shooters from not only Uttarakhand but also from across the country will be able to receive international level training. Shooters from the Army and Police will also be able to train and practice shooting in the shooting range. A world-class shooting range has been constructed at the Sports College at a cost of crores for organizing the National Games. After the completion of the National Games, the operation of the shooting range and maintenance of shooting equipment is also an important challenge for the state government. In this regard, Dainik Jagran had published a news in its February 17 issue titled “Bag filled with sports facilities, now the challenge of preserving and nurturing”. After the news was published, on the instructions of the state government, the Sports Department has started the exercise of building the shooting academy.
