Seats remain vacant in large classes of Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalaya for years.

In Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalaya, due to complexity of rules, eligible students are not getting admission in vacant seats. The problem is that these schools only get admission in class six. Whereas, many students in large classes leave school every year. These seats remain vacant due to lack of direct admission in these classes.
Speaking of Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalaya located at Nankurheda in Dehradun, there are currently 321 students studying here, while 30 students of many classes have left school. More than 20 percent seats are running empty in 11th and 12th.
Teacher GC Thapliyal told that the process of admission to sixth grade is going on, in which so far 51 students have been admitted. At the same time, Regional Director of CBSE Ranvir Singh has suggested to enroll in 9th and 11th in Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalaya on the lines of Jawahar Navodaya.

The objective of Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalaya is to provide better education and living facilities to the needy children of rural areas. A large number of seats are not being filled after admission after the sixth grade. To fill the vacant seats in these schools, there is a need to enroll in 9th and 11th also.
– Ranveer Singh, Regional Director, CBSE.
At present, 30 seats are running vacant in the school. Every year students leave school for several reasons. These seats remain vacant for years. It would be nice if other eligible students get a chance on these seats.
-Dr. Meena Kala, Principal, Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalaya Nannurkheda.
