Candidates who completed their D.El.Ed. (Diploma in Elementary Education) from NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) between 2017 and 2019 will also be eligible for the recruitment process for vacant basic teacher posts in the state.
The cabinet has approved the proposed amendments to the basic teacher recruitment rules. These amendments will now allow these NIOS-certified D.El.Ed. candidates to apply for the 2100 vacant basic teacher positions. The new amendment to the recruitment rules will also allow candidates who completed their D.El.Ed. from NIOS between September 1, 2017, and October 2019 to apply. Previously, in the 2023 recruitment drive for 2906 basic teacher posts, only a two-year D.El.Ed. degree was considered the mandatory qualification. At that time, candidates with a D.El.Ed. from NIOS were excluded from the application process. Challenging this decision, the candidates approached the High Court. The court clarified that the D.El.Ed. degree from NIOS would also be valid. Following this court order, the Directorate included NIOS candidates in the recruitment process. Now, the Education Department will be able to include eligible D.El.Ed. candidates in future recruitment processes as well. This change in the recruitment rules is a significant step towards providing equal opportunities to candidates and ensuring compliance with court orders. It is expected that the recruitment process for these 2100 posts will begin by October after cabinet approval.
Opportunity also for Assistant Teachers (Special Education)
This cabinet decision will also benefit candidates for the post of Assistant Teacher (Special Education) in government primary schools who are qualified to teach children with special needs. In other words, special education trained teachers who are qualified to teach students with special needs will also be eligible to apply.
