Describing the Divya Prem Seva Mission as an organization working sensitively for human welfare with determination and spirit of service, he said that 25 years ago, he had also played a role in sowing this institution in the form of a small seed, which is today It has become a big tree.



The President said that the holy land of Uttarakhand has been a land of spirituality as well as peace and knowledge. Haridwar and every gate along with Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, Badrinath are the gates of attainment of Lord Vishnu and Shiva. The impure holy life-giving Ganges is also a witness to this. He said that even when he became the Parliament of Rajya Sabha for the first time and even after becoming the President, his first visit was to Uttarakhand. He said that this mission established on the banks of holy Ganges is dedicated to the service of mankind. The dedicated service of leprosy patients by the organization is commendable.
The President said that after independence, untouchability based on caste and religion was abolished by the Constitution, but still the feeling of untouchability towards leprosy has not been eradicated. Remnants of the ignorance of seeing leprosy as a stigma are still seen today. Efforts should be made to allay the apprehensions prevailing against leprosy patients. They should also be adopted during illness and after recovery like patients who are free from other diseases. In this regard, he also told the need for efforts to remove the apprehensions spread in the society.
The President said that Mahatma Gandhi had also inspired the society by serving leprosy patients. The birthday of Mahatma Gandhi is celebrated as National Leprosy Day. He said that leprosy is not uncommon. Only those who consider it extraordinary are the real patients. The President said that the people associated with this institution are an example of how high the confidence of those working among leprosy patients is.
Earlier, President Ram Nath Kovind participated in the Divya Prem Seva Mission, the incarnation of Shiva on reaching the Sevakunj complex, the service of life with the knowledge of Shiva, the worship of 1.25 crore earthly Shivling, one year ritual program. After this, he also planted a plant of Bilb in the Divya Prem Seva Mission, Sevakunj premises.
On this occasion, Governor Lt Gen S.N. Gurmeet Singh said that today’s program is dedicated to ‘Seva ki Sadhna’, the inspiration for the practice of service is given by our ancient sages. It is the gift of Indian scriptures, in which charity has been glorified as the greatest virtue. Service and hard work have been given the highest importance in the sacred Guruvani and Sikh philosophy of life. Against the backdrop of these ‘golden achievements’ of the institution, the penance, service and devotion of the last twenty five years are hidden.
He said that Divya Prem Seva Mission has understood the mantra of ‘Nar Sewa, Narayan Sewa’ and has taken up a difficult task in its own hands. Taking a pledge to make the future of the children of leprosy patients bright, took a pledge for their education and initiation, took a pledge to develop art and skill, all this is like making the impossible possible. Only a true patriot, patriot can do this work.
Swami Vivekananda had given the concept of Vishwa Guru India in front of the world, that concept can be fulfilled only by the expansion of Indian knowledge and true spirit of service. The more knowledgeable and future of service the youth of India will be, our country will be able to achieve its position of world guru at the same pace.
The Governor said that in order to build a service-oriented India, the youth will have to take a pledge to serve the poor, the downtrodden and the weak. Swami Vivekananda’s mantra of ‘Nar Seva, Narayan Seva’ has to be adopted in the true sense. Only the culmination of worship and service of knowledge can take us forward on the path of Vishwa Guru. This event is inspiring to work in this direction.
In his address on the occasion, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that people associated with Divya Prem Seva Mission have taken this mission forward by burning sesame seeds since 1997 till date. He said that for those who have divinity in their love, serving others becomes religion. This organization is continuously working for the benefit of leprosy patients.
The Chief Minister said that he is the son of a soldier and a soldier never retires. While welcoming the President and other guests on behalf of the people of Uttarakhand, the Chief Minister said that the people of Uttarakhand have done the work of creating a new history within the state. He said that there is no substitute in the resolution of the mission. Therefore, their cooperation will be there in fulfilling the mission of service of this choiceless resolution.
