Tourists’ travel to the state’s tourist destinations and religious sites will now become easier. To this end, the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Board (UKADA) has set a goal of connecting more than 25 religious and tourist destinations in the state with helicopter services. Along with all the holy places in the state, areas like Munsyari in Pithoragarh, Purnagiri and Chuka in Champawat, Lansdowne in Pauri, Machkali in Almora, and Chakrata in Dehradun will be connected with helicopter services.
The number of helipads and heliports is being expanded.
Heli and air services are continuously expanding in the state. Steps are currently underway to connect all districts in the state with helicopter services. The number of helipads and heliports is being increased. Air connectivity in border areas is being further strengthened with the support of the military. The goal is to strengthen these helicopter services, not only to provide better convenience to tourists, but also to enable their use in relief and rescue operations during disasters. The state government mentioned the expansion of helicopter services in its budget speech this year. Now, the Civil Aviation Department is taking steps forward in this direction. A total of 25 new locations are being identified, including the previously operated helicopter services.
Heli services are proposed for these locations: Haridwar, Tehri Lake, Mussoorie, Chakrata, Gangotri, Yamunotri, Lansdowne, Badrinath, Gauchar, Joshimath, Gunji, Munsyari, Purnagiri, Chuka, Machkali, and Bhimtal.
