Preparations for Kumbh-2027 begin now, Chief Secretary directs to double Haridwar-Dehradun rail line

In a coordination meeting held between the state government and DRM Moradabad Sangrah Maurya at the Secretariat on Monday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, various issues including the upcoming Kumbh were discussed. The Chief Secretary said, it is necessary to double lane the Haridwar-Dehradun rail line before Mahakumbh 2033. He also directed to start the process of wildlife clearance and forest clearance etc. for this. He asked the Railways to prepare and provide the traffic management circulation plan for the Kumbh Mela soon. He also talked about including Rishikesh and Haridwar in the face lifting of railway stations.

The Chief Secretary asked the Railways to nominate a fair officer for Kumbh-2027. Said, representatives from the Railways should also participate in the meetings to be held regarding the preparations for the Kumbh. He emphasized on preparing a mechanism for the exchange of information between the Railways and the Uttarakhand government.

He said, the team of Rajaji National Park, Railways and DFO should conduct a joint survey for Rishikesh-Doiwala railway bypass soon.

He said, the process of wildlife clearance and forest clearance should also be started. He directed the joint team of Railways, Forest and Revenue to complete the survey to expedite the expansion work of Harrawala railway station.
