Now the Government of India is preparing to reduce the weight of LPG cylinders. Behind this, the government told the problems faced by women. You may reduce the weight, but it should not happen that the burden of the cost of the whole system should not be put on the head of the consumers. At present, the government believes that LPG cylinders have more weight. Picking up the cylinder and moving it from one place to another can be a bit difficult task. Women have trouble with this. If the weight is reduced then it will definitely be a little easier, there will be many women who cannot lift much weight or they should not lift much weight. In such a situation, if the gas cylinder has to be moved from one place to another, then the problem arises. Soon the government can reduce the price of LPG cylinders for the ease of women.
Keeping in mind the difficulties faced by women in transporting domestic LPG cylinders weighing 14.2 kg, the government is considering various options including reducing its weight. This information was given by Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri in the Rajya Sabha in reply to supplementary questions during the Question Hour. Earlier, a member had mentioned the problems faced by women due to heavy cylinders.
In response to this, Puri said that we do not want women and daughters to bear the heavy weight of the cylinder on their own and it is being considered to reduce its weight. He said that we will find a way, whether it is to reduce the weight of 14.2 kg to 5 kg or some other way. We are committed to doing so. He gave this information amid the uproar in the House. At that time the opposition members were raising slogans demanding withdrawal of the suspension of 12 suspended members.
