Parvati Das, who won the by-election of Bageshwar assembly seat, will take the oath of office and secrecy as a member of the assembly on Saturday. Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan will administer the oath to him. The swearing-in program will be held on Saturday at 11.30 am in the office of the Speaker of the Assembly located in the Assembly building. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, his cabinet members and provincial officials of BJP will be present on this occasion. The Bageshwar seat of the Assembly had become vacant due to the death of Cabinet Minister Chandan Ram Das. In the recently concluded by-election of this seat, BJP fielded Parvati Das, wife of former minister Chandan Ram Das.

In Uttarakhand’s Scheduled Caste reserved assembly seat Bageshwar, BJP candidate Parvati Das won by 2405 votes. The BJP candidate had defeated Congress’s Basant Kumar by a margin of 2405 votes. In this order, voters placed NOTA at third place. Candidates of Samajwadi Party (SP), Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) and Uttarakhand Parivartan Party (UPP) could not even reach the thousand mark.

On September 5, 56.88 percent voting took place on this seat, which became vacant due to the death of Cabinet Minister Chandan Ram Das. In the direct contest, there were Parvati Das of BJP and Basant Kumar of Congress.
