The central government has approved a plan of 125 crores for landslide treatment at four other places in the state including Mansa Devi hill. Under this, an amount of four and a half crores (for preparing DPR) has also been released in the first phase.
The State Disaster Management Authority and Uttarakhand Landslide Reduction and Management Center had sent the proposals to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). With this amount, the work of preventing landslides on Mansa Devi hill will be done. This route is used as an alternative route during the Kanwar Yatra. Similarly, the Galogi Hydroelectric Project route is affected by landslides in Mussoorie and Charton Lodge in Nainital, where treatment work can be done. Bahuguna Nagar in Karnaprayag and Khotila-Ghatdhar in Pithoragarh district are sensitive to landslides, where treatment work will be done.
CM expressed gratitude
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Home Minister on behalf of the state government and the people of the state for this cooperation. He said that this project is a decisive initiative towards long-term solution in the landslide-affected areas of the state. He has selected five sensitive sites highly affected by landslides on priority basis.
